Holy Hannah, three MONTHS since I last updated? Dear me, I am a naughty girl.

I'm writing this quickly, a big hi to everyone that still frequents Xanga(!) - whilst my Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack is downloading in the background. That's right, I've spent the last few months in Azeroth so poor Photoshop has had nary a look in, though I am desperate to revamp this place and start blogging nonsensicals again.

Anyway, back to my Vivaldi. Dedumdedededumde!

Wahay! A layout at long last! It took me a long, long time to get into the mood to design something again, but once into it I really enjoyed it. I spent the better part of 12 versions of f a n t a s y messing around with filters and lighting effects. Very pleased with the result. Xanga only for now, Myspace on its way.

< - - I'm Not Dead! - - >

Hoo, damn it's been a while! So much so that I really feel the need to change my layout again and just....reinvent myself. Well, what's new? I'll give you a few updates:

• Spent the weekend with Ian, which was so lovely. Due to our differing schedules lately this visit was delayed and so we've spent the whole of October away from each other. Talk about killer, just looking forward to the holidays where I get to keep him for two weeks and feed him lots of turkey vol-au-vents!

• Uni is going so well. I'm currently sitting on a First in Journalism and the same if I push it a little more in my English. S'all good and I can still spend time in between lectures downing a glass of red or a pint of Sol (with a lime, gotta have some class here) in our favorite drinking establishment.

• I've taken up kickboxing classes, which has just about physically killed me this week. I was up against a beefy ex-boxer policeman for the first time on Wednesday which left me covered in bruises, aching all over and yet strangely euphoric...

• Thursday saw me leave my first ever little vomit-y present on a carpet in a club down the town. I'm now sworn to never touch alcohol again.

• I was knocked off my bike by a car on Friday, which is something I really wouldn't recommend. It was a hospital job (with a lovely paramedic called Steve) but miraculously nothing's broken - I'm just so bruised I'm currently having to type with two fingers and sit like I've messed myself. S'all good. Suffice to say I haven't been to work this weekend and writing my Journo presentation (due Tuesday) may pose a small problem. Ha.

• Have discovered that the cult-hype surrounding the movie Fight Club is more than justifiable. Even the swaggering meathead that is Brad Pitt is tolerable in it.

• I'm pacing myself with my Stargate: Atlantis. We're up to Season 4, second-last disk...

• Facebook has now officially become my site of choice when I log on in the mornings. Afternoons. Evenings. Nights, whatever. I've also downloaded mIRC with the nick Kitiara20, so if you see me lurking hit me up with some geek 1337.

• Layout-wise I'm afraid I have nothing new for you at all. As I've had dibs on a life for quite some time I'm still getting used to the shock of actually having one and good old Photoshop has been stuck on the back-burner. Still, I need to reinvent this page again - unbelievable that the traffic I'm getting is still high - so a big thank you to all of my visitors. :)

Sorry for the lack of updates or Photoshops lately, I've been really busy with work, redecorating my room and university. I've also become something of a biker. No, I haven't given up shaving and taken to eating beans out of a can, I mean push-biker. I've been cycling to work, Ians', the town and even neighbouring villages on mom's old cycle and have discovered the warm glowly effects of all those exercise-endorphins hitting my system. ~~Better than smack.~~ So, to top off my nice toned thighs and butt, I'm looking into starting a kickboxing class. Which would be frickin' kickin' awesome on a frickin' kickin' stick. Naturally, I've attemped to Photoshop but haven't the patience for it lately. Inspiration will sock my mind soon enough, though I'm sure.

And holy cow. Mom and I went to see a show last night. Must admit I had my reservations about seeing 'Jekyll and Hyde' as it brings back memories of the similar 'Frankenstein' novel I was forced to study as a Fresher and thusly detested with a passion.

And I'm in love with the voice of a madman.

This adaptation of "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" has had me franticly downloaded music tracks, buying the cast recordings and stalking the poor fellow who played with such flair and talent the tortured Doctor and his evil alter-persona just hours after driving home having resolutely made up my mind that murder had never been made to look so liberating.

I've something of a fascination with façade - take Vincent Valentine and Chaos, Batman and Bruce Wayne, Spiderman and Peter Parker, Jekyll and Hyde, Smeagol and Deagol - they are all aspects of two opposing or hidden personalities and this adaptation served only to heighten my appreciation of what lies beneath. The argument is pretty straight forward - there being the forces of good and evil in each of us - but one cannot exist in a state without the other.

The gothic atmosphere was suitably stifling, the set stunning and the music powerful enough to give the listener a host of goosebumps on cold flesh. I'm not a big fan of musicals - I like the biggies, the Phantom, Les Mis and Cats but this one... - I'm hooked.

Expect updates when I've burnt out my speakers.

So, unless you've been living under a rock in a cave at the bottom of the ocean of Atlantis for the past twenty years, you'll know that at half eight this morning, the controversial 5 billion pound Hadron Collider was switched on for the first time - and that at 10:30am the first proton beam was fired.

I'm surprised at the amount - or lack, thereof - of coverage for this scientific marvel. The Doomsday prophecies that this sort of experiment encourages (predictions that the beam will cause formations of miniscule black holes that will destroy the planet from the inside out - something Hawkins more recently poo-pooed, stating that a black hole that is deprived of a constant stream of matter will simply "evaporate") are alone the sort of thing that the media loves to paint the front pages with. This sort of experiment and the (highly unlikely but still morbidly fascinating) outcomes for worldwide destruction - the likes of which hasn't been suggested since the same depressive fringe groups predicted the anihilation of the ozone layer after the testing of the first atom bomb - are a recipe for religious fervour and scientific circle-jerks.

Personally, the whole idea makes me feel like jumping up and down and entering an application for Starfleet Acadamy.

On that note, lighten up a little and watch this - The Jaws of Infinity.

That's it. I'm done. Finished. Kaput. No more. At an end.

That's right.

I've watched all 214 episodes of Stargate SG-1, The Ark of Truth and Continuum.

There's such a sad, nerdy hole in my soul that needs to be filled with Stargate:Atlantis and Stargate: The Third Movie and Stargate: The Next Spin-Off.

Man, I feel really disappointed now. It's like reading a really great book and wanting desperately to know the ending but at the same time dreading it because it means you've finished and there endeth the greatness.

I kid thee not - Daniel, Jack, Teal'c, Sam, Vala, Cam and even Jonas are like freekin' family to me at this point. I've watched an episode a day (OK, maybe more. A lot more) since returning from the US and suddenly to be without the constant techno-babble and valient struggles against evil aliens with convincing English accents (enjoyed drunkenly over several cold ones and one-way conversation with the TV screen) in the evenings is just...saddening. In a really geeky, "don't tell me this isn't real" kinda way I'm also incredibly happy to have shared in the defeat of the Goa'uld and the Ori and been witness to such awesomely budgeted special-effects, paradoxes and little stick-on beardy bits.

Oh well. Real life will just have to wait as I rerun Season 1 again.
